We all have answers within ourselves, but sometimes we need a guide to help us find them. That’s what the best therapy does: It gives you agency over your own life.

What Is Psychotherapy?

Also known as ‘talk therapy’, psychotherapy helps us to address issues and concerns related to our mental health and personal growth. Mental health care is crucial for overall health and greatly affects quality of life. Tackling mental health issues can improve emotional balance, strengthen relationships, and boost productivity at home and at work. Early treatment can stop more serious problems later and helps develop resilience and coping skills. Prioritizing mental health can lead to a healthier, more satisfying life for individuals and their families.

Book recommendations:

Bibliotherapy: using books to heal, reflect, and grow. Led by a clinician, done in groups, or alone, it uses fiction, memoir, poetry, and self-help with prompts to process emotions, reframe problems, and build coping skills. For midlife women managing change and responsibility, bibliotherapy offers easy comfort—stories that normalize experience, words that name feelings, and exercises that turn insight into action. Short, cheap, and flexible, it complements therapy and self-care—turning reading into renewal.
